Nihon Goshin Aikido

Originated in Chitose, Hokkaido Japan, and brought to the United States in 1963.

The Techniques

Nihon Goshin Aikido is comprised of 50 Techniques that are taught as prototypes called “Classical Techniques.”  Once the core concepts of a Classical Technique are understood, realistic attack scenarios called Applications are introduced to transition between static and dynamic Aikido.  Focus is on nage waza, uke responsibilities, and applications.

Nage’s initial movement should not be too early, nor should it be too late.  The idea is to move only enough to avoid contact and unbalance uke.
